Osiris is a god dressed like a mummy, holding in his hands the symbols of royalty. He is the god martyr, dispossessed of his throne and dismembered by his brother Seth. He is the spouse and the brother of Isis, as him child of Geb and Nut. Isis won't have of quits to have recovered the parts of the body of Osiris. According to the legend, his head was buried in Abydos, making of this place a high linked pilgrimage place in Osiris.  Thanks to the gods, Isis was able to resuscitate  Osiris so that he can impregnate her and she will be able to conceive Horus that will revenge him.

Thanks to an opening to the bottom of the chapel of Osiris, instead of the false door, the visitor reaches then directly the Osiris Complex. Osiris "absorbed" the local god of Abydos, Khenty-imentiou, only keeping his epithet, "The first of the westerners" as king of the deaths.
