The Great Dedicatory Inscription  in summary :

Ramesses II takes down the Nile and stop in Abydos. He sees the state of the temple of his/her/its Séthy pére and decide to finish it. He also decides the foundation of hisown temple.

Farther, the text comprises a passage that has been interpreted like indicating the existence of one co-regency between Sety I and Ramesses II. He says that Ramesses II "was raised to the eldest son statute as heir on the throne of Geb." Farther, the text makes a return behind and says: "When my father appeared to the crowd whereas I was a child in his arms, he told my case: "Make a king of it, that I see his achievement so much that I am in life"." But to no moment, he is only said Ramesses is a king at the same time as his father.

Ramesses II addresses to its defunct father and ask him to intercede by the gods so that these grant him a long reign. He affirms that the ritual ceremonies will continue so much in the temple that e will reign. Sety answers to him that the gods grant him the long reign that he asks.

Behind Ramesses II, his Great Dedicatory Inscription begins.
