North wall of the Nefertum chapel

Pharaoh Sety I  makes  the offerings and throws the incense towards an assembly of gods : first of all, Nefertum, represented here in lion with a falcon on his head, himself with a lotus that is in principle the Nefertum sign. This god is a primordial god, who assists, as lotus, to the birth of the sun coming up from the Nun. Nefertum carries the eye oudjat, the eye of Horus, on the chest. Click on the photo for details on Nefertum. The two gods who follow him are besides Nun, the primordial ocean and Khepris, the newborn sun with the scarab on the head. They are followed by the Thot god, the inventor of the time and hardly visible on the photo, Neith, creator of the world that she made the Nun emerge by the seven magic words. The Pharaoh is helped by small Pharaohs inside the naos.
